Most writers, artists, just indulge in their own melancholy.
They change and edit it until it becomes something different.
Until it becomes something of beauty, fit for the outside world to see.
Because underneath it all, it’s not beautiful.
It’s just really, really sad.
Hmm, I have mixed feelings about this poem. I found it beautiful, but also sad. I write stories, and I won’t lie, I am depressed a lot, but I wouldn’t consider my work too sad.
Hey! Thanks for you comment – at the time of writing I was having a melancholy time, so that explains the negativity! It’s definitely not the case for all writing, but sometimes I do think writers add beauty to sadness – to sell it others and their self. It’s half idea, I suppose 🙂 Thanks again for taking the time to read and comment. – CLJ
